The machine mainly consists of a High-Performance Drain-Belt which is installed on top of the press and of the Belt Filter Press itself with additional pre-dewatering zone, curve press zone and 8 press rollers decreasing in diameter.
The sludge is pumped by an eccentric screw pump into the conic mixer where it will be conditioned by adding anionic or cationic flocculants in 0,1 % solution. The pre-thickened sludge is discharged into the 2-stage pre-dewatering zone of the belt press which is also equipped with additional pillow-blocks.The sludge then passes the curve press zone which is regulated by stamps according to the sludge characteristics. Here the sludge is compacted in a way that it can be treated with maximum pressure in the following press zone. The pressure of the BS-PRESS is produced by a step-less adjustable pneumatic belt tension system and by diminution of the diameters of the rollers, so that the pressure can increase slowly and continuously. This process assures that the filter-belts inspite of the high dewatering capacity of the machine are handled very carefully. The BS-PRESS doesn't have any support pressure roller. The filter-belts are flexible to one side, so that coarse materials as stones, crowncorks etc. cannot destroy them. The belts are centered by a pneumatic belt guiding system.
Sludge dosing pumps, flocculant dosing pumps and BS-PRESS are equipped with step-less adjustable driving motors, so that all parameters which are important for the dewatering process can be regulated individually.
For the dewatering of industrial and domestic waste water sludge it is necessary to add flocculants for sludge conditioning. These flocculants are organic polyelectrolytes. For inorganic industrial sludge normally anionic and for organic domestic ones cationic types are used. In special cases it is necessary to add a combination of anionic and cationic types. Preparation of flocculants can be made by hand or fully automatically. For sludge quantities up to 100 m³ per day the normal standard flocculant preparing and storage system is sufficient. It consists of a preparing tank 0,75 m³ and a storage tank with a volume of 1,5 m³. The preparing tank is equipped with an electric stirrer 1,1 kW.
To prepare the flocculant solution, the operator has to weigh the flocculant by hand (powder or liquid) and to strew it into the preparing tank where it will be mixed up to a 1 % solution by adding 0,5 m³ water. The mixing time is approx. 30 minutes. After the end of the mixing time the solution will be transferred into the storage tank where a sufficient ripping time is assured.
Flocculants are normally used as a 0,1 % solution. To prepare the 0,1 % solution, the high concentrated 1 % solution is drawn off by the flocculant dosing pump and transferred into the delution mixer where it will be deluted by adding water. For this delution process industrial water of filtrate can be used. The preparation of flocculants in a 1 % solution has the advantage that small tanks with a high capacity can be installed. The storage tank can store flocculant solution for 100 - 150 m³ sludge. A further advantage is that the solution can be stored for several days without losing activity. To prepare the flocculants by hand the operator needs approx. 15 minutes for each preparation.
For sludge quantities over 100 m³ per day we recommend to install our automatic flocculant dosing system which is an additional equipment. The automatic dosing system consists of a storage case for 100 kg flocculant powder, a dosing screw, a mixing system and a transfer pump for the high concentrated solution. When 0,6 m³ flocculant solution are drawn off from the storage tank, the automatic dosing system starts to prepare a new solution. The necessary flocculant powder is drawn off by the dosing screw from the storage case and transfered into the mixing system where a very high concentrated solution is prepared. This solution is pumped into the preparing tank by a transfer pump where it will be transferred into the storage tank. This process is fully automatic. The flocculant dosing system is equipped with an electric cabinet to control the process.
The belt press "Bogenpresse" works fully automatically, so that a permanent control by the operator isn't necessary. The whole dewatering process is controlled by special devices which control the correct function of all aggregates. In case of a breakdown of one or more aggregates an alarm is automatically given to the operator. If there should be a serious fault, the whole installation will stop immediately.
