  • Function

The surplus sludge is sucked up at any given place by an infinitely adjustable eccentric screw pump and is pumped through the high performance mixer. In the high performance mixer, the sludge is intensively mixed with the diluted flocculant, until the optimal point for dewatering will be reached. The sludge which is now totally flocculated, flows onto the Drain Belt, which is equipped with pillow-blocks which guarantee an optimal sludge circulation and water separation.

The thickened sludge is discharged into the feeding hopper and is then transported by a pump for concentrated sludge either directly into the digestion tank or into the mixing basin where it is mixed with primary sludge.

The separated filtrate is collected in a basin below the Drain Belt. The washwater pump sucks up out of the basin for feeding the continuously operating spray tubes for cleaning the sieve belts. Furthermore, the filtrate supplies the dilution water for the flocculant solution. The filtrate surplus flows back to the sewage plant almost free of solids.

The flocculants are prepared in a 0,75 m³ preparing tank with stirrer for a 1 % main solution, and are discharged into a storage tank, capacity 1,5 m³, standing below, after a suitable ripening period. In the most unusual case, with a max. flocculant consumption, one preparation will be for 100 m³ surplus sludge, with normal consumption for 200 to 500 m³. Depending on the flocculant consumption, the filled storage tank will be enough for 400 to 2000 m³ wet sludge.

The infinitely variable dosing pump with highest dosing accuracy, sucks up out of this storage tank, and conveys the concentrated main solution through a flow indicator into a static mixer. Here, it is diluted with filtrate from the Drain-Belt which is also supervised by a flow meter to a 0,1 % concentration, ready for use, and is then transported into the high performance mixer.

The whole plant is controlled from an electric control panel which indicates the operating condition by signal lamps. In case of disturbances, alarm will be given, and the plant will be switched off automatically. The disturbance will be indicated by blinking of the responsible control lamp so that the operator immediately knows, where he can find the failure. With this simple method of supervision it is possible to operate the plant continuously without further supervision. The operation is confined to the preparation of the flocculant which is about 15 minutes. The plant should be cleaned once a week by simple cleansing, which needs about 1 hour together with the recommended lubrication service.
