HUBER Grit Treatment System RoSF 5 VW |
|
|
Treatment of grit from wastewater treatment plants and sewer systems by means of a Wash Drum / Grit Washer
- Loss on ignition of the grit/gravel fraction < 3%
- Coarse material separation size of 10 mm
- Reduced disposal costs

Feed and dosing arrangement adjusted to raw material quality:
The sewer cleaning truck empties the residual liquid phase (if any) and raw material into the intermediate storage tank from where a screw conveyor (horizontal or vertical) installed inside the tank removes the solids and doses them into the subsequent wash drum. In case the screw conveyor is the inclined type [VW(S) system], the liquid phase will later be discharged by a removal device. If the screw is horizontal [HW(S) system], the liquid .ows directly into the wash drum.
Separation of coarse material as much as necessary, as little as possible:
While wash water (circulating water) is added to pre-wash and homogenise the raw material in the wash drum, the perforated plate of the wash drum retains all particles > 10 mm; they are dewatered and then discharged into a skip. Since only coarse material > 10 mm is separated, the volume of residues is extremely reduced. The far biggest part of the minerals is passed on to additional treatment. The coarse material can afterwards be split into a mineral and organic fraction by means of a coarse material washer.
RoSF 4 Coanda Grit Washing Plant The main part of the system: The grit/gravel/organics/water mixture < 10 mm collects in a sump under the wash drum and is pumped from there into the Coanda Grit Washing Plant via the vortex chamber and Coanda tulip. With the use of the Coanda effect the rotational .ow is directed to the tank where a de.ned .ow .eld is produced which creates optimum conditions for the separation of mineral components. Due to a de.ned introduction of upwardly directed service water the grit situated in the lower part of the Coanda Grit Washing Plant RoSF 4 is .uidized in .ow so that the lighter organic particles are separated from the dense grit particles. The mineral fraction cleaned from organic components (grit and gravel up to 10 mm grain size, < 2-3% loss on ignition) is automatically discharged by the grit removal screw when it is statically dewatered and discharged into a container. The material can thereafter be recycled or dumped on inert material land.lls.
Conditioning of circulating water Minimized water demand: The complete effluent from the Coanda Grit Washing Plant is passed into a Wedge Section Screen which separates all organic material > 2 mm and discharges the dewatered material into a skip. The screened organic material can be composted or incinerated, depending on the raw material quality. The screened water is used as wash and transport water for the ROTAMAT Wash Drum. A pump following the Wedge Section Screen delivers the water to the spray nozzles in the Wash Drum. The excess water is passed on to the wastewater treatment facility (STW or separate water conditioning facility). Circulating the water minimizes water consumption and achieves excellent separation degrees of fine grit.
