In a fully automatic coagulant preparing plant, the powdery or liquid coagulants (polyelectrolytes) are continuously mixed with water. With a coagulant dosing pump the ready for use coagulant solution is directly dosed into the feedpipe in front of the flocculation reactor. Within the flocculation reactor a slowly rotating stirrer favors the flocculation and ensures that on the overflow of the flocculation reactor after an adequate duration only completely flocculated sludge can flow into the ROTAMAT-thickening press.
Within the ROTAMAT-thickening press the flocculated sludge is gently transported across a wedge wire. The filtrate is flowing out through the screen. During operation, brushes in the spirals of the screw as well as interval flushings provide the cleaning of the wedge wire. The thickened sludge is transported with a sludge pump equipped with a sludge storage tank into a digestor or a sludge silo.
