  • Function

This MembraneClearBox® system was developed for small sewage treatment plants for 50 – 150 PE. The system combines the benefits of biological wastewater treatment and membrane filtration with submerged ultrafiltration membranes. The units consists of an aeration system and the MembraneClearBox® ultrafiltration rack with membrane modules. The number of modules is throughput-dependent.

The wastewater from the each source flows through a (possibly new) local network into a settling tank to remove solids (alternatively a mechanical coarse material separation system can be used). From the settlement tank, the wastewater overflows into a second intermediate storage tank, and from this tank, the wastewater is pumped to the treatment tank. The treatment system consists of an aeration unit installed at the tank bottom and the MembraneClearBox® membrane module rack containing up to 36 individual modules depending on required throughput. Ancillary equipment can be positioned in an adjacent building.

The effluent quality is so high that the treated wastewater can be used for flushing toilets. This can reduce the drinking water demand of a household by up to 40 % ! The effluent can also be used for irrigation.

Design certification according to the new DIN EN 12566-3 !

Since July 2005 the HUBER MembraneClearBox has a design certification according to the new DIN EN 12566-3 and is thus the first plant with ultrafiltration that has got the approval for the new classes C, N, D and +H (+P submitted for approval). Approval number received from theDIBT (German institute for structural engineering): Z-55.3-107

The HUBER MembraneClearBox is not only the first ultrafiltration plant with a design certification but also the most advanced and efficient small wastewater treatment plant with a design approval! The approval comprises all standardised small ww treatment plant sizes form 4 to 50 PE.
