The complete HUBER VRM® is integrated in a support frame and submerged directly into the aeration tank (1). The system consists of a rotating hollow shaft (11) around which 6 or 8 UF modules are arranged with defined gaps. The biologically clarified wastewater is sucked through the membranes due to the transmembrane pressure difference, the molecular separation size lying at 150 kDa, prior to being discharged (3) via the permeate collecting pipes (12).
To prevent production of a covering layer and thus a decreasing flow rate as the liquid component of the activated sludge mixture is passing through the membrane, a cross flow is generated on the membrane surface.
The innovation of the HUBER VRM® system is the new efficient and variable cleaning system which ensures high flow velocities (8) on the membrane surfaces and makes periodic backwashing completely unnecessary. The principle of membrane cleaning consists in generation of directed air and medium flows, using at the same time the radial acceleration along the rotating membranes (9) in the reactor. Only one individual membrane segment (10) requires high-intensity cleaning, which demands only a minimum of energy.
The HUBER VRM® Unit can be integrated into existing concrete tanks, steel tanks or container units.
VRM® System is „California Title 22“ - approved !
After having passed all tests and approval of the engineering company’s official report by the State of California the VRM System may now officially be referred to as “California Title 22 approved”. Title 22 is a far-reaching standard for water recycling, which was originally used in California and is now applied by more and more US states and also by other countries all over the world as a criteria of high-quality!
