The cost-effective way for the future

Restoration - a never-ending task |
Every year extensive restorations are necessary in water supply and distribution plants. Responsible plant operators pay attention to the reliability of their plants as well as to the compliance with legal standards and accident prevention standards. For this purpose, large amounts of money are spent signifying an enormous financial burden to each budget. The legitimate question poses itself: are these so-called replacement investments truely necessary? Or would it have been possible with a careful choice of materials to not only save replacement investments but also running costs?

Saving costs with stainless steel |

In terms of maintenance costs a correctly processed, rustfree stainless steel is unbeatable. A surface treatment and its associated costs can be omitted permanently. This is especially true for all detachable accessories such as doors, manhole covers or ladders, that have to withstand weathering. Let us only consider the re-galvanisation of a staircase or a scraper bridge. With stainless steel costly restorations an be omitted. Rustfree stainless steel often requires a higher initial investment compared to other materials. But in the long run, it is evident that the operator can save costs in both operational and maintenance expenses with stainless steel materials. Naturally, the time period of consideration plays a role here. For the purpose of short-term renovations, "cut-price products" can be used temporarily. For long-term applications in the area of supply and disposal, however, the material stainless steel will almost always be the winner. The one who renovates today using stainless steel will save costs in the future.
